Closing out the work day with a Scott Bradlee Slow Jam of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song. Aww yeahhh.
Think about the marks you want to make on the paper in front of you… the ones that bring you pleasure and satisfaction. You can’t control what other people think or if they’ll give you a job. You can only control your own actions and the work you produce. You have to be a little delusional to pursue a life in the arts, so throw caution to the wind and make pictures that excite you and hopefully the world will agree.
Thank you, Anita @thetrickstore, for a wonderful opening reception! Please check out “Hither and Yon” at Tr!ckster in Berkeley, up all July. #art #design #illustration #gallery #travel #bayarea #berkeley
I think I’m finally mature enough to appreciate the immaturity of movies like Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club.
Saw the movie Her last week and I really enjoyed it! It’s about a utopian near future where a writer falls in love with his computer operating system. So many things about the movie felt spot on and it’s somehow one of the more believable love stories I’ve seen in a long time. Theodore Twombly wears a safety pin on his front shirt pocket so his OS, Samantha can see what he sees when he walks around. I grew really attached to that image and that idea, so I painted it in my sketchbook.
Thank you to everyone who we met, high-fived, hugged, traded with, supported and laughed with at APE this year. Special thanks to Tom Hall & Dietrich Kleffel for table mating with us. Zac Finger & Creature Comforts for being rad neighbors. Spencer Salberg of #Heymonster for being my new best friend. 6th Circle Comics for being hilarious. Brynn Metheney & Tiffany Turrill for being lovely ladies. Molly Maloney & Annie Wong because I needed to go back to their table & buy something and I didn’t have time. Jen Parks because we are at a ton of events together and I’ve never introduced myself cause I’m shy - your cats are beautiful. Everyone who came to our table - you all are rad. And to everyone who supported us with virtual high-fives through the Internet. And lastly, to my partner in crime #sticksstonesandherringbones - hope you had a nice b-day. Hearts!
Aw, you are so sweet! We tried to find your table yesterday but got lost in all the art madness! Nevertheless, we enjoyed talking about cats with you, and will come to drinkanddraw sometime!
I guess I’m a little late to the party on this (like by 2 years), but this Trails of Tarnation episode is heeelarious/wonderful/ridiculous. Nicholas Gurewitch can do no wrong!
Disney artists Eyvind Earle, Walt Pergeroy, Marc Davis, and Joshua Meador paint a tree, and it is awesome.
“One of the great difficulties of an art student is to decide between his own natural impressions and what he thinks should be his impressions.”

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming for this…I…don’t even know…what…But my love for Charles Dance grows more and more each time I see him doing weird shit like this.
Oh Tywin Lannister…so proud, so mighty, so…freaky.
And WOW, searching tumblr tags for Tywin found me this cool illustration-
It’s Tywin, Brienne, and Jon drawn by the amazing Geoffroy Moneyron.
Anyway, back to working on my last final project for this semester…yay!
